H.E. Adnan Ahmed Yousif Abdulmalek, MBA, serves as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board at Albaraka Bank Ltd. He has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Al Baraka Banking Group B.S.C since August 2004. H.E. Abdulmalek has been Executive Director of Al Baraka Banking Group B.S.C. since 2004. He has been the Chief Executive and President of Al Baraka Banking Group at Banque Al Baraka d’Algerie S.p.A since August 2004.
He is a prolific international banker and has over 30 years’ of experience. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Islamic Bank B.S.C. from 2002 to 2004. He serves as Director of Al Baraka Bank Tunisia. He served as Senior Vice President and Head of Arab Wortd Division and Head of Global Marketing & Financial Institutions Division.
He has been Chairman of Al Baraka Bank-Syria since December 2009. He serves as Chairman of Banque Al Baraka D’Algerie; Albaraka Turkish Finance House. He serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Al Baraka Bank Egypt (S.A.E) (also known as Egyptian Saudi Finance Bank). He has been Chairman of Jordan Islamic Bank since April 29, 2007. He serves as Chairman of Banque Al Baraka d’Algerie S.p.A.
He has been Chairman of the Union of Arab Banks since May 2007 and Al Baraka Bank (Pakistan) Ltd., since February 2011. Mr. Yousif serves as the Chairman of Banque Al Baraka D’Algérie, Al Baraka Turk Participation Bank, Al Baraka Bank Ltd., South Africa, Al Baraka Bank Lebanon and Al Baraka Bank Syria.
He served as Chairman of Al Baraka Banking Group B.S.C. since February 29, 2012. He served as Chairman of European Islamic Investment Bank Plc until February 2, 2011. He served as Executive Chairman of ABC Islamic Bank. He served as Vice Chairman of Union of Arab Banks since 2005. He served as Deputy Chairman of the Board and Director of AlBaraka Islamic Bank B.S.C. He has more than 27 years of experience as a senior international banker. He served as Vice Chairman of Al Baraka Egypt Bank. He serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at Bank Et-Tamweel Al-Tunisi Al-Saudi.
He has been a Director Jordan Islamic Bank since October 28, 2000. He also serves as a Director of Al Tawfeeq Company for Investment Funds Ltd. and Cayman Islands. He serves as a Director of Al Baraka Bank (Pakistan) Limited. He also holds directorships in Al Baraka Bank Sudan and Al Baraka Islamic Bank Bahrain. He has been a Director of Bahrain Association of Banks since March 25, 2013.
He serves as a Director of Bahrain Stock Exchange. He also sits on the boards of several other Middle East banks. He served as Director of Bahrain Islamic Bank B.S.C. from 2002 to 2004 and Islamic Bank of Britain PLC until September 30, 2005.
